Gay, Waggoner and Johnson, who learned something about being teammates on the Dartmouth football field, won the $10,000 second prize toward development of their product Samsara, which they described this way:
Samsara, a truly innovative product, is our patent protected, reusable drink bottle which utilizes a revolutionary flavor cartridge infusion system. Samsara has the unique ability to both filter and subsequently flavor ordinary water, giving the user a purified as well as formulated drink of their choice.Find the rules of the contest here.
Gay, a quarterback before a recurring arm injury ended his career, Waggoner, an All-Ivy League safety, and Johnson, a defensive back, have patented their invention and intend to continue to develop and market it. (link)

It would be hard to imagine a better Saturday for Dartmouth ball sports than the Big Green had yesterday. The biggest win was a 10-9 men's lacrosse upset of No. 9 Princeton. About 120 yards away, the Dartmouth softball team swept a doubleheader against Brown. And back across the street the baseball team also took a pair from the Bears. And finally, the men's rugby team claimed its sixth consecutive Ivy League title.

Kudos to the Yale men's ice hockey team for becoming the first Ivy League team to win the NCAA championship since 1989 with a 4-0 win over Quinnipiac last night. Collecting the assist on the gamewinning goal was defenseman Gus Young, whose father Kevin '77 and uncle Wayne '72 were both multisport athletes at Dartmouth and football captains.Young was chosen to the Frozen For all-tournament team.
