BGA Premium Subscription Clarification

If you subscribe to BGA Premium via PayPal you may have received an automated email that your subscription was canceled. That's not true and you should have received an email from me explaining as much..

Only Automated renewals were canceled because I find them annoying.

The most important thing to know is if you subscribed via PayPal for the coming season, your account is in good standing and you don't have to do anything.

If you are intending to use PayPal for the coming year, the process has been changed and you will not receive an automated email encouraging you to sign up again when your 2013 subscription runs out.

Here's what happened:

A subscriber who used PayPal last year sent a check a couple of weeks ago and then emailed me because he got a notification that his subscription needed to be renewed. I hadn't sent that notification out (I never do) and wondered what was going on. It turns out that in redesigning the website last year the PayPal buttons on the site pointed back to PayPal's subscription program, not to a one-time "buy now" feature. The official PayPal subscription program includes notification etc.

I tried to get PayPal to stop sending the renewal notifications out but found out the only way to do that is to "cancel" subscriptions. I did that, but reluctantly, because it sent out the confusing notes to people. I sent each a note of explanation but not everyone opens and reads every email so I thought I'd toss an explanation up here as well.

Long story short, it's all good now. The PayPal button now on the site is a one-time deal. It brings a year of BGA, and that's it. You won't be bugged a year from now.

Sorry for the confusion. Believe me, the least fun part of doing this is the business part.
