Well, Hello

Although early acceptances went out yesterday the electronic media and Twittersphere are still radio silent for the most part. One incoming player previously mentioned in this space who has Tweeted about heading this way is Emory Thompson, a 5-foot-10, 170-pound wide receiver/corner who also saw time at quarterback for Paul Laurence Dunbar High School in Lexington, Kent. Find his senior highlight video here.

Expect more recruiting news in the next few days.
From The Dartmouth regarding the early decision acceptance rate:
Four hundred sixty-nine students were admitted to the Class of 2018 through the early decision process, the College announced on Dec. 11.  The accepted students — selected from 1,678 early applicants — are intended to make up 40 percent of the Class of 2018, according to a College press release.
The early decision numbers reflect a 27.9 percent acceptance rate, a nearly 2 percent decrease from the early admissions rate for the Class of 2017.
An epic Dartmouth-Princeton snow picture (the final interception) accompanies a somewhat scary story  about a Dartmouth study in the Los Angeles Times under the headline, Head injuries in one football season cause measurable brain damage.

From the story:
The findings add to a growing body of evidence suggesting that a season-long succession of small hits — none hard enough to cause evident disorientation or draw medical attention — may prompt changes in the brain that cause problems with memory, mood or mental performance years down the road.
and . . .
Looking only at athletes who were not diagnosed with a concussion during the season they were tracked, the researchers drew important connections between blows to the head and changes in brain structure as well as the students’ cognitive performance weeks after their sport ended.
