Be There

A reminder that prior to Saturday's golf "Classic," at Hanover Country Club, the semiannual meeting of the Friends of Dartmouth Football will be held in the Hanover Inn starting at 9:15 a.m. Stop by for an informative update on the program.

Lunch at HCC will be served under the Friends tent starting at 11 a.m.

Golf begins at 12:30 with a shotgun start and the day concludes with dinner, a raffle and the always entertaining auction.
How long did you think it would take a sportswriter to decide to do a story about a Harvard rookie and a Yale rookie trying to make the same NFL team? Not long, I'm sure.

The Associated Press goes for the low-hanging fruit with a story about Zach Hodges, Tyler Varga  teaming up on the Indianapolis Colts.

From the story (LINK):
Ask Hodges about the rivalry and he quickly notes he went 4-0 against Yale.
Ask Varga about his memories from playing in the series and he simply shuts it down.
"They've gotten the best of us the last couple of years, so I don't want to talk about it," the 5-foot-11, 222-pound running back said, conveniently omitting he ran for 127 yards and two touchdowns and caught four passes, including one for a TD, in November's a 31-24 loss, Harvard's eighth straight win in a series that dates to 1875.
Could the state of New Hampshire be the proving ground for another Syracuse athletic director? No, not Dartmouth's Harry Sheehy. UNH's Marty Scarano has been floated as a potential candidate in a story on the Syracuse.com site. (LINK)

The last time Syracuse looked this way for an AD it tapped Dartmouth football coach Jake Crouthamel in 1978.

For what it's worth, in addition to Scarano, the Syracuse site lists Bucknell AD John Hardt as a possible candidate, but Hardt has said he's not interested. (LINK)
