Saturday Roundup

Greetings from aboard AMTRAK's 66 Northeast Regional. Missed you yesterday but the friend we stayed with yesterday has chosen not to have Internet at his house.

Here's a capsule look at what happened with Dartmouth opponents yesterday . . .

Harvard 41, Rhode Island 10
The Crimson got 336 passing yards and three TD throws from Scott Hosch to run its winning streak to 15 games against a Rhode Island team that wasn't going to put up much of a challenge even on a good day.

Fordham 44, Columbia 24
Don't let the final score fool you. The Lions were within 28-24 to start the fourth quarter against one of the elite FCS teams. Florida transfer Skyler Mornhinweg was 21-of-25 for 187 yards and ran for two scores.

Bryant 20, Brown 16
The Bears had a first down at the 2 with a chance to beat a very good Bryant team before an interception cost them the win against an in-state rival. Marcus Fuller threw for 403 yards for Brown.

Lehigh 42, Penn 21
The Mountain Hawks piled up 498 yards of total offense to offset 336 yards passing from Alek Torgersen and 143 receiving yards from Justin Watson.

Yale 29, Colgate 28
The Bulldogs scored 15 fourth-quarter points to get by winless Colgate. Morgan Roberts tossed three second-half touchdown passes.

Bucknell 19, Cornell 14
Only a fourth-and-10 touchdown pass from the 14 in the final two minutes allowed Bucknell to avoid the upset. Luke Hagy ran for 105 yards for the Big Red.

Princeton 40, Lafayette 7
The only Ivy League team with a quarterback without starting experience got 256 passing yards from Chad Kanoff and 308 yards on the ground to win its opener for the first time since 2006, interestingly the last time it won the Ivy title.

Marist 34, Sacred Heart 27
The same Marist team that took it on the chin at Georgetown a week earlier got 342 passing yards to pull off a shocker against a Sacred Heart team that had been nationally ranked. The Red Foxes finished with 504 yards of total offense.

Central Connecticut 24, Bowie State 17
Freshman Jacob Dolegala took over at quarterback, running for three touchdowns including the 4-yard winner with 1:42 remaining as Central Connecticut avoided losing to the lower-division team.
