Don Brown, who began his coaching career at nearby Hartford (Vt.) High School, crossed the river to work for Joe Yukica at Dartmouth in a part-time capacity and eventually returned to the Big Green before beginning his nomadic career as a full-time coach is expected to be named the new defensive coordinator at Michigan. (LINK)Brown has made a lot of stops in his coaching career, most recently at Boston College where his defense last fall was the top-ranked unit in the country. An Mlive.com story about the hired references his stints everywhere from Dartmouth to Yale to Mass Maryland, UConn and elsewhere, noting, "And every one of them revolved around his relentless intensity as a teacher, mentor and coach."
Green Alert Take: When I was at the newspaper we had a black-and-white photo of Donnie addressing the Hartford HS defense that we commented on every time we were going through the photo files. Without showing it to you it's impossible to describe the black stare in his eyes, but suffice it to say it was decidedly "Harbaugh-esque." That said, everyone loved him.
