Weight, Weight Don't Tell Me (Or Do)

You could have done this but I thought to save you the trouble ;-)

Here are some of the more significant weight gains among Dartmouth football players over the past year. These numbers were compiled by comparing the official 2015 roster and the newly updated 2016 roster. Granted, there may have been a few incorrect weights that slipped through last year but this paints a decent picture of the effort that has gone into getting bigger and stronger.

Weight gain:
40 pounds – Senior DE Jeremiah Douchee from 235 to 275
25 pounds – Junior OL Ben Hagaman from 270 to 295
25 pounds – Sophomore DE Jimmy McHugh from 235 to 260
25 pounds – Senior OL Garrett Strohmaier from 275 to 300
25 pounds – Sophomore RB Marcus Berg from 180 to 205
20 pounds – Senior DL Michael Warren from 265 to 285
20 pounds – Sophomore OL Phil Berton from 255 to 275
15 pounds – Junior LB Ian Hanselman from 225 to 240
15 pounds – Junior DL Charlie Pontarelli from 260 to 275
15 pounds – Junior DL Nick Tomkins from 255 to 270
15 pounds – Senior OL Jack Friedman from 285 to 300
15 pounds – Sophomore LB Harrison Farber from 220 to 235
15 pounds – Junior OL Justin Call from 275 to 290
10 pounds – 10 players

Sophomore DL Davaron Stockman and junior linebacker Justin Edwards shed the most pounds. Stockman went from 330 to 315 and Edwards from 245 to 230.
Not crazy about cribbing from myself but on a day when there's not much else to report, this was a note on BGA Premium yesterday . . .

It wasn’t a great surprise last year when NFL scouts flocked to campus to see members of the Class of 2016 up close and personal. Almost every NFL team showed up in Hanover at some point and more than a few were in town on multiple occasions.

Guess what? They’re back.

The San Francisco 49ers were here earlier this week. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Minnesota Vikings were here the day before.

The Detroit Lions, Washington Redskins and Denver Broncos were here last week.

“Flo (Orimolade) and Charlie Miller popped some good numbers on the junior thing last year,” explained (Coach Buddy) Teevens. “So people are looking at them. Dave Morrison is a good-sized offensive player and Zach Davis is a big ol’ guy so they have gotten noticed.

“People know that we play hard and that football is important to our kids, so they will keep coming to take a look. When you put up good numbers, which those guys did, it is going to attract a lot of attention and the scouts will keep coming and I am excited to have them.”
Meant to post this earlier in the week:

Watched Maine (ranked below three Ivy League teams) push FBS member UConn to the limit last night in Storrs, Conn., before falling, 24-21, on a field goal with 11 seconds remaining.
Very interesting to me that the two schools we paid tuition to in recent years have what are ranked as the No. 1 and No. 2 alumni networks in the nation according to The Princeton Review. Quibbling with the exact rankings is to be expected, but simply to be considered near the top is impressive.
Practice today has been moved to 10 a.m. Check in tonight for a story out of the session as well as the BGA preview of New Hampshire, the ninth preview in the series.

The Green-White scrimmage is on tap Saturday morning with coverage to follow on BGA Premium. If you haven't subscribed or re-upped yet, what are you waiting for? ;-)
