Here And There

A screen grab from Flo Orimolade's Instagram page shows Flo and former Dartmouth teammate Ryder Stone after the Calgary Stampeders' 25-8 win over the Montreal Alouettes. Stone caught one pass for eight yards and returned a kickoff for 32 in his return to his hometown of Calgary. Orimolade is on the undefeated Stamps' practice roster.
It would appear the Northeast Conference head coaches don't expect much from Dartmouth Week 5 opponent Sacred Heart. They voted the Pioneers sixth of seven teams in the NEC preseason poll. SHU was the only team in the league not to have at least one player selected to the preseason all-conference first team. The Pioneers finished 4-7 last year although they gave Dartmouth a tough test in a 29-26 loss.

Sharp eyes caught a story out of the Bay Area under the headline Camp preview: Battle for practice squad spot only drama among 49ers QBs. The story notes that Jack Heneghan, the former Dartmouth quarterback, is in a battle with former Southern Miss QB Nick Mullens for the role. CLICK HERE to read the piece.
Dan Hannigan '88, who played two years of football at Dartmouth, is stepping down from his duties as play-by-play announcer for UMaine ice hockey. He also did the school's football broadcasts on TV. Hannigan called Black Bear games for 23 years. In an interesting career switch, he's leaving to work at a French language immersion school in Florida. (LINK)
