Here And There

Former Dartmouth safety Charlie Miller '17 has been waived by the Jacksonville Jaguars. (LINK)

From a release:
Miller is yet to log an NFL snap since going undrafted out of Dartmouth in 2017. He'll become an unrestricted free agent if he clears waivers unclaimed.
An Ivy League head coach once told me that Ancient Eight teams don't get their due in the FCS coaches poll because it doesn't serve the division well to have a Top 10-ish team not going to the playoffs. Made sense to me. Keeping that in mind, here's the American Football Coaches Association Preseason FCS Coaches' Poll:

1 North Dakota St. (23)
2 James Madison (3)
3 South Dakota St.
4 Sam Houston St.
5 Kennesaw St.
6 Jacksonville St
7 Eastern Washington
8 Weber St.
9 New Hampshire
10 Samford
11 Wofford
12 Northern Iowa
13 Elon
14 North Carolina A&T
15 Central Arkansas
16 Delaware
17 Nicholls St.
18 McNeese St.
19 Villanova
20 Illinois St.
21 Furman
22 Stony Brook
23 Austin Peay
24 Youngstown St.
25 Montana

Others Receiving Votes: Idaho, 41; Northern Arizona, 36; Yale, 22; Grambling St., 14; Monmouth (N.J.), 12; Southern Utah, 11; Sacramento St., 9; Colgate, 8; South Dakota, 6; San Diego, 5; Richmond, 4; Western Illinois, 3; Western Carolina, 2; Lehigh, 1.
Those who look down at the Ivy League might be surprised to learn that while Northern Iowa leads the FCS with 11 players in NFL camps this summer, Harvard is next with 10.
In the never-ending quest to dig up notes to post on this page, I stumbled across this from a site called Know Your Quotes:

That's some interesting company, no? I mean, Erma Bombeck, Tanya Tucker and Bear Grylls among others?

The full Teevens quote:
"A dominant player. He just brought a relentless style of play, a great leader. We'll certainly miss him. We loved to coach him. He was very, very unselfish, not caught up in the successes he had as an individual."
Where it came from, who it's about and why it showed up on this page is a mystery to me.
