Princeton 29, Harvard 21
In a 10-7 dogfight at the half, the Tigers stretched their lead to 22-7 with two fourth quarter touchdowns and then had to hold on for dear life in a wild final three minutes. Down 15 points, Harvard drove 75 yards for a touchdown with 2:25 to play to pull within 22-14. Princeton recovered Harvard’s onside kick and 15 seconds later Charlie Volker broke off a 49-yard touchdown run for a 29-14 Princeton lead. But Harvard answered with its second 75-yard drive in a row, this one capped by a 32-yard TD pass with 48 seconds left. Another onside kick actually bounced free before Princeton fell on it to end the drama. A sometimes beleaguered Harvard defense limited Princeton to 357 yards of offense and 150 on the ground. Returning from injury, John Lovett passed for 207 yards and one TD and ran for 45 yards and another score for the Tigers.
