What's notable about those numbers is how closely bunched they are from 2 to 10 and how far in front you find Kyler and Swann. And in case you are wondering, Swann also leads the nation in passes defended and Kyler leads the country in passing efficiency.
I asked Dartmouth coach Buddy Teevens about having national leaders in stat categories on both sides of the ball after yesterday's practice and here's what he had to say:
“We’ve got some playmakers. They are both really low key and unpretentious about it. They will get all shy and humble (if you ask them about it) but it is genuine. They are making good plays. They are two mature players, younger guys really. Isiah is a little further along. But Kyler, I mean this is the first time he’s played. He is making some good decisions and we're having some good results.
“It is neat to see. I’m happy for them, and (pleased) schematically with what we are doing. (Offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach) Kevin Daft is doing a great job with the QB’s and (associate head coach) Sam McCorkle does a great job with the defensive backs. The schemes offensively and defensively play to their strengths.”Among other notable statistics, Dartmouth continues to lead the nation in total defense (246.5 yards allowed per game) and turnover margin (1.83) and is second in scoring defense (9.7 points) and rushing defense (72.8 yards per game).
