More From Yale

Game highlights that show both teams and full plays are fun to watch. Have fun:

The Daily Princetonian takes a look at Princeton's record-challenging offense HERE. From the story:
How does Princeton stack up compared to the rest of the Ivy League? On offense, the team leads the next closest Ivy League opponent, Dartmouth, by an astounding 15 points per game. Princeton is scoring two touchdowns more than even the next best offense in the Ivy League.
Speaking of Princeton, after the Tigers' 66-7 win over Lehigh, clearly frustrated Mountain Hawks coach Andy Coen was quoted this way:
“When you look out and their threes (third-string players) are beating our ones, that pretty much says it all. Give me the scholarship money the Ivies give that they say they don’t, but they do, then it would be a whole different look.”
Jay Greenburg, a respected journalist who writes for the Princeton football blog, offered a response from Bob Surace, the Princeton coach, in a column headlined, What’s Fair is Fair, And Unfair to Some.  With apologies to Jay for sharing such a lengthy outtake, here's what Surace told him:
“I just want to be clear than our guys are not on scholarship. So many don’t receive financial aid at all.
“It’s an insult to insinuate that they are coming here for free because they are football players. I don’t want that misconception out there. Our players are not getting one dollar more than any Princeton student who needs financial help.
“It insults the hard work our guys are doing, the strength and performance development staff is doing, and the work our coaches do to develop relationships and recruit kids that fit our program.
“The vast majority of the students on our team are in work-study. We even have kids in work-study who are not receiving any financial aid, getting up early and working in dining halls in addition to everything else they have to do.
“Andy is a good guy.  I hope he was misquoted. I just don’t want it out there that we give athletic scholarships. Because we don’t.”
Green Alert Take: A personal rant. As those of you who have followed BGA Daily since she was a middle schooler know, That Certain Dartmouth '14-turned-National Parks ranger absolutely loved her time at Dartmouth. Even as a work-study kid she was involved in all kinds of activities, was on the track team for a couple of years, ran for student body president and continues to serve the school as an alum. She absolutely bleeds green.

But here's the thing. When the Patriot League introduced football scholarships, I asked her a simple question. "If you were offered a full athletic scholarship and could have gone for free to Colgate or Bucknell (two Patriot League schools she was accepted by and liked a great deal) or to Dartmouth knowing how much we had to pay, where would you have gone?"

Remember, this is someone who loves Dartmouth almost beyond reason.

Well aware of just how much her four years cost us – even with generous financial aid – she said she would have taken the Patriot League athletic scholarship.

There are those who say the Ivy League financial aid is the equivalent of a full athletic scholarship. For as happy as I am that TCD'14 went to her dream school I'm not one of them.

End rant.
