TD Tomkins

Former All-Ivy League defensive lineman Nick Tomkins caught nine passes for 105 yards including this 20-yard touchdown – his first since his senior year of high school – playing for the Cougars of Saint-Ouen-l'Aumône in the Paris suburbs. Not to worry, he's still playing on the D-line and even saw a little time at linebacker.

It’s unclear why the 49ers.com website is running preseason game highlights but there you have it. This one posted about a week ago shows former Dartmouth quarterback Jack Heneghan gaining 10 yards on a bad snap.
Still another of Tomkins' teammates getting a mention in recent days is former linebacker Flo Orimolade, coming off his rookie season with the CFL's Calgary Stampeders. From the CFL website there is an offseason look at the Stamps under the headline, Still Shopping: Who Still Needs What In FA?:
With the offence mostly intact, the most work is needed on the defensive side of the ball. Cordarro Law and Folarin Orimolade are in the picture at defensive end, but the Stamps could use a veteran like Tristan Okpalaugo to join the rotation.

For the Dartmouth collector who already has just about everything (I'm looking at you A.E.) here's a ca. 1910 Dartmouth football banner for $300. (LINK)
And finally a 100th birthday congratulations to Grand Canyon National Park, which is celebrating its centennial today. Peter McBride, a 1993 Dartmouth alum and "adventure filmmaker, photographer and writer," documented his 750-ish mile hike the length of the canyon. (LINK)

That Certain Dartmouth '14, who you've been reading about on this and the previous BGA blog for almost 15 years, is an educational ranger at Grand Canyon and shared a couple of photos she shot over the weekend of the Canyon after recent snow. (Click on pics to supersize them.)

TCD'14 has a new assignment starting next week. Stay tuned for an update ;-)
