Working It

On campus yesterday to do an interview for a story I'm freelancing, I pulled out my trusty iPod Touch and shot a little video of the start of work on Dartmouth's new, hard-sided indoor practice facility. Here's a quick look at what I saw:

New Jersey high school football officials voted Wednesday to implement the most restrictive contact limitations during practice at any level of the sport.
The New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association passed a bill that reduces in-season full-contact limits from 90 minutes per week to 15 minutes and preseason full-contact hours from unlimited to six.

For anyone who is clueless enough to put much stock in FCS recruiting rankings, consider the cautionary tale of this three-star recruit. From al.com:
On Wednesday, an offensive tackle from Grace Christian High School in Knoxville, Tenn., named Blake Carringer showed up as a three-star prospect on Rivals.com. He was listed at 6-foot-6, 315 pounds, with scholarship offers from Alabama, Georgia and Florida, among other schools.
One problem: Blake Carringer doesn’t exist.
Some person or persons created Carringer out of whole cloth, but not before his name showed up on Rivals.com . . .
