More NFL

Still no news on Dartmouth's pro hopefuls but a few more Ivy Leaguers have found NFL homes.

Harvard offensive lineman Larry Allen, Jr., widely considered to be one of the Ivy's top draft prospects, did not hear his name called but has landed a contract with the Dallas Cowboys.

Columbia longsnapper Patrick Eby has earned a minincamp invitation with the Green Bay Packers.

Brown grad T.J. Linta will reported to the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted quarterback after a grad transfer year at Wagner.

As reported here yesterday, Princeton quarterback John Lovett will get a look as an H-back with the Kansas City Chiefs. Lovett's Princeton teammate Stephen Carlson, who reportedly has tacked on 20 pounds from his playing days as a wide receiver, will bet a shot at tight end with the Cleveland Browns.

And former Penn defensive end Louis Vecchio has a rookie minicamp tryout with the Philadelphia Eagles after a grad transfer year at Vanderbilt.
Lest you think this undrafted free agent stuff is meaningless, consider this (LINK):
The Buccaneers have re-signed tight end Cameron Brate to a six-year, $41 million deal, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported, per a source informed of the situation. Of the $41 million, $18 million is guaranteed, Pelissero added.
Brate has exceeded all expectations as an unheralded tight end who was signed by the Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent out of Harvard in 2014.
For what it's worth, there were 13 FCS players drafted this year. That compares to 19 a year ago. And for comparison, Alabama had 10 draft picks and Ohio State 9.
The Yahoo Sports NFL columnist writes about the NCAA rule that ends the career of players who declare for the draft and are not chosen. There were 144 underclassmen this year who entered the draft and 49 of them were left at the altar. The Yahoo story is centered on Buffalo quarterback Tyree Jackson, who had been promoted as potentially a third round pick but never heard his name called and now can't return to his college team. A reminder that Dartmouth is slated to begin the final week of spring football Tuesday and there will be coverage on BGA Premium later in the night.
