Spring?

Mercifully, Dartmouth postponed yesterday's spring football practice to today. Wonder why? Check out the lede to a Valley News story about the nearby Lebanon High School girls lacrosse game down I-89:
The first half took place in a downpour. The second half was cut short by snowfall so thick, it limited visibility to less than 50 yards.
By the time Lebanon High’s girls lacrosse players shivered and sloshed their way off the field on Tuesday following an NHIAA Division III season opener at Bow, many were in disbelief that the contest had been played at all. An 11-5 loss was certainly disappointing, but having survived without hypothermia or a groin sprain served as a consolation prize.
Granted, the snow stopped and the sun tried to come out right around the time Dartmouth was scheduled to hit the field, but that didn't last.

There's another reason why the story about that lacrosse game is germane in this electronic precinct. From the notes at the end of the story:
Lebanon’s junior varsity is coached by McKeanna Teevens, the daughter-in-law of Dartmouth College football coach Buddy Teevens.
You learn something every day ;-). McKeanna is the wife of Buddy Teevens, Jr., who used to work for the Dartmouth football program.

Speaking of lacrosse, there's a lengthy story about the new Professional Lacrosse League on the Fast Company website and it has a strong Dartmouth football connection.

The league has been founded by lax superstar Paul Rabil and his brother Mike '06, the former Dartmouth defensive lineman and captain.

From the story about the innovative league:
(Paul) Rabil and nearly 160 of the world’s top players have opted out of playing for the 18-year-old MLL to join the PLL, lured by a guaranteed minimum salary about two or three times higher than the MLL’s as well as healthcare, coverage on NBC, a touring schedule set to begin on June 1, and an equity stake—a first for a professional sports league.
From the Dartmouth football  office:

STATS has posted five “top-15” lists of potential FCS draft choices and Princeton receiver Jesper Horsted was the only Ivy Leaguer listed – and he was ranked 12th by the only service that included him. It predicted he would be an undrafted free agent. (LINK)

Jake Dolegala, the 6-foot-6 Central Connecticut quarterback who completed 14-of-21 passes for 133 yards in a loss to Dartmouth as a freshman in 2015, was projected by one of the services as a sixth or seventh round pick. Don't remember him? Here's a little background.
Sandy Alderson '69, senior adviser to baseball operations for the Oakland Athletics, will receive an honorary degree at Dartmouth's graduation. The commencement speaker will be Yo-Yo Ma. (LINK)
