The Ivy Legue conference season kicked off last night in familiar style down in Cambridge:

Harvard 42, Brown  7
Aided by a 53-yard run on the game’s initial play from scrimmage, Brown (1-1) scored the night’s first points just 34 seconds into the contest and maintained a 7-0 lead until the final minute of the opening quarter before Harvard (1-1) exploded all over the Bears. Jake Smith completed 22-of-29 passes for 229 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Crimson (1-1). Brown quarterback EJ Perry, who had run for 227 yards in a win over Bryant a week earlier, netted just eight yards rushing on 12 carries against a stingy Harvard defense. He threw for 162 yards. The Crimson piled up 32 first downs and 521 yards of total offense while defeating the Bears for the ninth year in a row. Attendance for the nationally televised game was 10,008.
