A New Name

Nick Schwitzgebel, a 6-foot-3, 285-pound offensive guard from St. Ignatius High School in Cleveland, Ohio, has Tweeted his commitment to Dartmouth HERE.

To give you an idea of how much credence you should give to the recruiting services, here's his list of offers per 247Sports (LINK):
Akron, Bowling Green, Kent State, Louisville, Princeton, Toledo, Yale, Youngstown State.
And here's Schwitzgebel's list of offers from Rivals (LINK):
Akron, Bowling Green, Colorado State, Kent State, Louisville, Toledo, Yale, Youngstown State.
Notice anything? That's right, the school he has chosen isn't on either list.

Green Alert Take: And you wonder why I don't take it seriously when online sites judge one FCS recruiting class against another using these services?
Here are the high school seniors who have announced their intentions to continue their education and play football at Dartmouth on Twitter:

Dario Arazi, 6-6, 225, DE/OT, Brooklyn Tech/Brooklyn, N.Y.
Josh Balara, 6-3, 290, OL/DL, Dallas /Dallas, Pa.
Isaac Boston, 5-10, 170, ATH, Springfield Central/Springfield, Mass.
Jack Dyett, 6-5, 210, DE/TE, Brentwood School/Los Angeles, Calif.
Thomas Hartnett, 6-3, 290 OL, Pittsburgh Central Catholic
Devon Lingle, 6-2, 202 QB, Fletcher, HS/Neptune Beach, Fla.
Gannon McCorkle, 6-3, 235 DE/TE, Phillips Exeter Academy/Gambrills, Md.
Paxton Scott, 6-1, 183 WR, St. Mark’s/Dallas
Nick Schwitzgebel, 6-3, 285, OG, St. Ignatius/Cleveland
Ethan Sipe, 6-5, 260, OL, Ensworth School/Nashville, Tenn.

That should be one-third of the class.

Green Alert Take: There may well be others out there that the wide-ranging network of BGA recruiting birddogs haven't yet found or who haven't yet Tweeted. Contributions to the list and corrections aren't just accepted but they are appreciated ;-)
The Offshore Wise Guys Have spoken and here's what they see this weekend:

Dartmouth is a 24.5-point favorite at Brown
Yale is a 7-point favorite at home against Harvard
Princeton is a 10-point favorite at Penn
Cornell is a 2-point favorite against Columbia

Also . . .
Marist at Valparaiso is a pick 'em
San Diego is a 28.5-point favorite at Jacksonville

Not much video of Brown football on the web but here's a quick look from the Bear win over Columbia Saturday:

Fabulous story out of Yale where center Sterling Strother has an eventful few weeks ahead. From a story by Jeff Jacobs posted in the Middletown Press (LINK):
So how’s this for an itinerary?
Beat Harvard on Saturday at Yale Bowl.
Win a share of the Ivy League title.
Save a life a couple of weeks later.
Strother was identified as a match for a potentially life-saving bone marrow match through the Mandi Schwartz Marrow Donor Registration Drive. More from the story:
“It’s an incredible privilege, the biggest one you could ever imagine,” Strother said. “And it’s pretty cool to be juxtaposed with The Game, the biggest sporting event I’ve ever played in and one of the coolest days of my life. To be able to turn around and be able to help someone else who needs it is even more special. Football is incredible and a big part of my life, but there is nothing more fulfilling than an opportunity like this.”
And finally, it's Week 10 of the season and the Ivy League football media guide/record book still hasn't been updated. Surprised? Me neither, considering what I found when I went to the Ivy League football page to check out the conference players of the week. Here's a screenshot taken this morning:

Take a look at those video captions. Brown's Dewey Jarvis and Dartmouth's Jeremiah Douchee last played in 2017 and CJ Wall isn't on Princeton's roster this year.

Green Alert Take: For as tempted as I am to go off, I know how hard people in media relations work so I will leave it at that.
