2020 Ivy League

Credit to Craig Haley of STATS for doing his homework. His spring preview of the Ivy League is on target although given Dartmouth's push to roll so many players through the label of "returning starters" is a lot less significant for the Big Green than the "names of returning starters." ;-)

Of Dartmouth, Craig writes:
PROJECTED RETURNING STARTERS: 7 (4 offense/3 defense)
PRIORITIES: Develop new starters on the offensive and defensive lines. Find playmakers at wide receiver.
NOTABLE: The Big Green have finished 8-2 or better (5-2 Ivy or better) in five of the last six seasons, but with the fewest returning starters in the league, they're at risk of dropping lower following their league-record 19th Ivy title. Quarterback Derek Kyler returns, but is no longer paired with running-style signal caller Jared Gerbino. The defense lacked a consistent pass rush a year ago despite dominating overall. Cornerback Isaiah Johnson was the starter ahead of Darren Stanley, who flourished while Johnson missed the last eight games with an injury, and now they'll be paired together. The Big Green seek stronger punting.

Brown has made national headlines by naming Heather Marini quarterback coach, making her the first fulltime female position coach in Division I football (LINK).

From the Brown release
A native of Australia, Marini earned a Bachelor of Emergency Health from Monash University and a Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Science at Deakin University. She worked with the Monash Warriors Gridiron Club as the head coach for three seasons and Quarterbacks Coach/Coaching Development for three years.
Marini also played competitively for Gridiron Victoria Women's Tackle Football where she was the Rookie of the Year and First Team All-State, and Monash Warriors Women's Gridiron, where she was the team's offensive MVP, captain and quarterback.
Former Dartmouth quality control coach Jennifer King – the first female African-American coach in the NFL – is doing what she can from a distance while the Washington team waits out the pandemic. (LINK)
Central Connecticut, a team Dartmouth defeated in 2014 and 2015, will play Miami in 2021. THAT Miami – the Hurricanes. Ka-ching, add $650,000 to the Central Connecticut coffers. It will be a memorable experience for the Blue Devil players . . . and likely a very, very lopsided beating.
As suggested here last week, the lack of Pro Days is going to hurt FCS players hoping to go on. (LINK)
There's a lot in a story about a collegiate wrestling tournament that makes me want to scream including this (LINK):
The referees did not hold up the winner’s arm after a match, as is customary in wrestling.
Green Alert Take: Seriously?
A Dartmouth grad student living off campus has tested positive for COVID-19. (LINK)

From the story:
The student is one of three Dartmouth community members who were being tested for the coronavirus. The results of the other two tests are pending.
And . . .
Most students left campus earlier this month for spring break and were told to remain at home as classes have been moved online for the first five weeks of spring term, until May 1. Today, all employees whose jobs enable them to work from home have begun to do so.
