Kudos To Cole

Cole Marcoux '14, an All-Ivy League honorable mention tight end as a Dartmouth senior, has joined the Pittsburgh Steeler organization as the team's Football Administration Coordinator per Steelers Depot. (LINK)

Prior to his new assignment in Pittsburgh Marcoux had been Senior Manager on the NFL’s Labor Operations Management Council. He had previously worked in the NFL's Junior Rotational Program and interned for Madison Square Garden prior to his senior season at Dartmouth.

Marcoux will be reunited in Pittsburgh with former Dartmouth teammate Dan Rooney '12.
STATS takes a spring look at football teams in the powerhouse Colonial Athletic Association including Towson, which Dartmouth will visit this fall. (LINK) STATS notes that while the Tigers lose QB Tom Flacco (brother of Joe), they return seven starters on offense and seven more on defense from a team that went 7-5 overall and 4-4 in the CAA a year ago. From STATS:
PRIORITIES: Keep the offense flowing by finding a replacement for quarterback Tom Flacco between Ryan Stover, Jeff Miller or a transfer. Develop depth at linebacker in the 3-4 defensive alignment.
NOTABLE: In addition to the returnees from last year, Towson brings past starters back from injuries with running back Shane Simpson, linebacker Ricky DeBerry and safety Jamal Gay. Simpson finished second in the FCS in all-purpose yards per game two years ago. It will be odd not to see Aidan O'Neill, who holds the CAA career record for field goals, lining up for attempts, but the Tigers return a strong punter in Shane McDonough.
Green Alert Take: Dartmouth fans might recognize O'Neill's name. While he went on to have a terrific career at the Baltimore school with a CAA all-time best 64 career field goals, surely one of his most disappointing games came in a 20-17 loss at Dartmouth in 2016. With his team trailing by three points, O'Neill had a 22-yard attempt to tie blocked by Charlie Miller with 2:19 remaining in the game and a 56-yarder to force overtime with one second remaining blocked by Jeremiah Douchee. While that second boot seemed like a prayer when he took it, he proved otherwise on the final play of his freshman season when he kicked a 55-yarder to defeat Rhode Island.

The New Hampshire preview on the STATS CAA preview page included this about UNH coach Sean McDonnell:
The beloved McDonnell, the two-time recipient of the Stats Perform Eddie Robinson Award, has returned from medical leave in his fight against cancer.
That sent me scrambling to find a Manchester Union Leader story about McDonell's return that notes he'll be back on the sidelines when UNH begins spring ball at the end of the month. (LINK)
As a group of private schools the Ivy League is not included but to put athletic budgets at the FCS level into perspective the Lehigh Football National site has broken FCS schools out for the NCAA Athletics Spending database. Check out the numbers for opponents like UNH and Towson HERE and discuss among yourselves ;-)
Scrolling through football coaching hirings I stumbled across someone named Cordae Hankton being named as an offensive grad assistant coach at Colorado. (LINK) That got me wondering and sure enough his bio included a mention that he's the younger brother of hugely popular former Dartmouth assistant Cortez Hankton, now wide receivers coach at Georgia.
