Spring Sports Canceled In Ivy League

Baseball, softball, lacrosse, golf, track, rugby, sailing, rowing, equestrian . . .

Here's the body of today's Ivy League release:
With further developments in the outbreak of COVID-19, the Ivy League Presidents are announcing their unanimous decision to cancel all spring athletics practice and competition through the remainder of the academic year.
Individual institutions will decide whether or not winter teams and student-athletes who have qualified for postseason play will participate.
In accordance with the guidance of public health and medical professionals, several Ivy League institutions have announced that students will not return to campus after spring break, and classes will be held virtually during the semester. Given this situation, it is not feasible for practice and competition to continue.
Green Alert Take: There is going to be a tremendous spike in Ivy League spring athletes doing the grad transfer thing because they won't be able to use their lost season of eligibility in the Ivy League if they were on track to graduate.

Green Alert Take II: The time has come for the Ivy League to rethink grad eligibility.

Green Alert Take III: Don't be surprised if more Ivy League basketball players with remaining eligibility start thinking about the transfer/grad transfer route given the decision to cancel the tournament rather than play without spectators. You can almost hear the juniors saying, "That's not going to happen to me."
