Turns out major League baseball isn't the only sport speeding up the game. The NCAA is doing the same thing in college football, with one exception.*
From ESPN (LINK):
The NCAA Playing Rules Oversight Panel on Friday approved a rule change for 2023 that will allow the clock to run after first downs in all divisions except Division III, the NCAA announced on Friday.
The clock will continue to stop during the final two minutes of each half, maintaining at least part of a rule that long helped differentiate college football from the NFL.
Additionally, the NCAA will no longer allow coaches to call consecutive team timeouts.
The story notes that "the changes are estimated to shorten the game by seven to eight minutes and eight plays."
A CBS story points out that, "Stopping the clock after first downs has been one of the rules that has differentiated college football from the NFL since 1968."
* The exception is in Division III, which to this point has not agreed to the rules change regarding running clock. Go figure.

A reminder that Dartmouth is completing its week-long hiatus from spring football today as the coaches wrap up on-the-road recruiting. Practice resumes on Tuesday with sessions also slated for Thursday and Saturday next week. The offseason work concludes with Tuesday-Thursday-Saturday practices the following week. The final Saturday practice on the morning of May 6 will be the annual spring game. As always, there will be same-night full coverage of every practice on BGA Premium.

Dartmouth football's series featuring graphics of the incoming freshman recruits began yesterday and continues today. Hometowns, high schools, height and weight are added below the graphics.
So yup, as I said in this space yesterday, after putting BGA Daily to bed I headed up the hill to check out the crane being employed to help build our closest neighbor's new barn/garage. Not something you see every day in these parts ;-)
