Extending the streak will be a challenge given this year's Sept. 16 opener is at New Hampshire, which finished last year No. 13 in the nation. Given the wealth of talent returning, the Wildcats were slotted at No. 8 in FCS Craig Haley's way-too-early 2023 Top-10 ranking. (LINK)

The Bengals.com site has a story in which Cincinnati Bengals owner Mike Brown '57, a former Dartmouth quarterback, reminisces about NFL Hall of Famer Jim Brown, who died this week. It was Mike's father, Paul Brown, who drafted the Syracuse four-sport star (football, basketball, lacrosse and track) for the Cleveland Browns. From the story (LINK):
Mike Brown introduced himself in the Dartmouth College bookstore in that spring of '57 on a day Jim Brown was driving around campus in a red convertible, not too long after Paul Brown took him with the sixth pick in the draft. Mike Brown, who had quarterbacked Dartmouth the previous fall while Jim Brown was running Syracuse into the national spotlight, was looking forward to watching Jim Brown lead the Orange lacrosse team against Dartmouth later that day.
"He was better at lacrosse than he was at football. He was super at lacrosse," Mike Brown said. "He would just run down the field and Pffft. Throw it in the net. We couldn't run with him and if somebody tried to be physical it was an unequal contest. Jim would just go through him or around him."

The Ivy League may be clinging to its prohibition against athletic scholarships, but when it comes to Name, Image and Likeness, the Ancient Eight has no choice but to play by the rules as this Tweet reminds us:
It looks like Harvard boosters are starting an #NIL collective.
— Mit Winter (@WinterSportsLaw) May 19, 2023
The athletics department sent an email to supporters explaining that it does not sanction or support the group soliciting donations to start the collective.
I imagine this collective will have plenty of 💰. pic.twitter.com/WmgP66yL96
As for those rules, check out the Harvard policies HERE. A few outakes from that policy:
Harvard University names, logos, shields, insignia, trademarks, symbols, apparel, equipment, or other indicia of Harvard may not be used during NIL Activities.
Harvard student-athletes may not photograph, film, or include any Harvard campus, athletics facilities, or other buildings, landmarks, or statues in NIL Activities.
Any description or phrase which contains a reference to an individual’s Harvard affiliation must be accurate and must adhere to the following guidelines:
• The Harvard reference may only be positioned in a location where such biographical informational material would typically appear.
• The text may not specifically emphasize the Harvard reference, and must use a consistent font style, size, color, and value for the entire description or phrase.
• A disclaimer must be included which is larger and more prominent than the Harvard affiliation reference and states: “Any endorsements, views, opinions, and appearances are made solely in my personal capacity; Harvard does not endorse this organization or its products or services.”
• The disclaimer must appear immediately adjacent to the Harvard reference.
Green Alert Take: Yikes.

EXTRA POINT
It's been pretty cool here for the past week but our lilacs are now almost in full bloom. Thanks to the folks who built this house we have a row of the bushes that runs 35 yards or so along the back of our property as well as some alongside our driveway and more alongside the garage. Some are the traditional light "lilac" color, some are a deeper purple and some are white and all are glorious.
