This And That

Former Dartmouth quality control assistant Callie Brownson, who rose to the role of Big Green recruiting coordinator before moving on to pave the way for women coaching in the NFL, continues to make news:

News that Pat McAfee was going to ESPN led to discovering this on his Wikipedia page. Italics are mine (LINK):

On February 5, 2016, McAfee became a Guinness World Record holder by successfully kicking a 40-yard field goal while blindfolded. The record was surpassed two years later when Davis Brief, a fan of McAfee's, kicked a 45-yard field goal while blindfolded on September 23, 2018.

The farthest blindfolded American football field goal is 50 yards and was achieved by Daniel Schuhmacher (Germany) in Cologne, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, on 25 March 2021.

Davis Brief was primarily a punter at Dartmouth before graduating in 2020. Find his bio HERE and a YouTube "short" showing his then-record kick HERE. Look closely and you might be able to catch a glimpse of Buddy Teevens serving as his holder.

A Tweet by Craig Haley notes that "Former North Dakota State offensive lineman Nash Jensen played in 70 career games, which is believed to be an NCAA all-divisions record," and the record could be in jeopardy this fall. South Dakota State wide receiver Jaxon Janke has played in 57 games and if he stays healthy and SDSU goes far enough in the playoffs he will eclipse Jensen's mark.

The 70 games for a 6-foot-4, 329-pound offensive linemen sent me to the North Dakota State page to check out his career breakdown. It went like this:

2017 - Redshirt season (did not appear in any games)
2018 - Played in all 15 games
2019 - Started all 16 games at left guard
2020-21 - Started all 10 games at left guard
2021 - Started all 15 games at left guard
2022 - Started 14 games. (Missed Youngstown State game with injury)

Jensen signed with the Carolina Panthers last week as an undrafted free agent.
