Mobile robotics is also being used to improve safety in contact sports, such as American football and rugby. Concussions and other head injuries are a significant concern in these sports, and researchers are exploring ways to use mobile robotics to reduce the risk of injury. One such innovation is the Mobile Virtual Player (MVP), a robotic tackling dummy developed by researchers at Dartmouth College. The MVP is designed to mimic the movements of a human player, allowing athletes to practice tackling and other contact drills without the risk of injury to themselves or their teammates. By reducing the number of full-contact practices, teams can potentially reduce the risk of concussions and other injuries.
