Wednesday Roundup

Charlie Looes' decision to return for a fifth year this fall paid off for Dartmouth and for the defensive lineman, who earned his third Ivy League championship ring. Already chosen to the All-Ivy League first team, he's now been selected as one of two finalists for the Bushnell Cup, emblematic of the top defensive player in the conference.

Joey Slackman, a defensive lineman at Penn, is the other finalist.

Dartmouth has a release on Looes and the Bushnell Cup HERE and the Ivy League has a release about the Bushnell finalists – including Yale quarterback Nolan Grooms and Brown wide receiver Wes Rockett on offense – HERE.

The Ivy League coaches aren't the only ones who Looes impressed this fall. Now in the portal as a grad transfer, he has added offers from Ball State, Coastal Carolina and the University at Buffalo to a list that already included Albany, Arkansas State, Bryant, Connecticut, Incarnate Word, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Tulsa and William & Mary.

Other grad transfer offers to Dartmouth seniors and super seniors per Xwitter:
Linebacker Macklin Ayers: Albany
Wide receiver Isaac Boston: Butler, New Haven, Gannon, Sterling
Defensive lineman Hank Knez: New Hampshire, Maine and Butler
Defensive back Cam Maddox: Delaware
Running back Joey Richmond: East Central University, Sterling
Defensive back Leonard St. Gourdin: Butler
Green Alert Take: These are only offers that have been shared on Xwitter. You can be sure that there are others that have not been reported.

Green Alert Take II: Given that Looes' breakout season came as a fifth-year senior, what are the chances that some of the players considering a grad transfer find themselves thinking that by sticking around a year from now they could be in his shoes?

EXTRA POINT
With our internet out yesterday I drove to the library in our town of 2,293 and parked next to a sedan with out-of-state license plates.

Nothing unusual about that. This is a scenic little town in a beautiful state and we get a lot of visitors from around the country.

As I got out of my car I noticed whoever was driving the other car had put a locking club on its steering wheel. Seriously, I couldn't help but laugh. I mean, so little happens in this town that while we do have a constable we don't even have a police department.
