In what should be a surprise to absolutely no one, Dartmouth sophomore Owen Zalc has been named the Ivy League's special teams player of the week while Micah Green was selected to the honor roll.
Zalc's 32-yard field goal with three seconds left gave the Big Green a 16-14 come-from-behind win over Merrimack. He finished his day's work with three field goals, including one of a career-long 50 yards.
In addition to the Ivy honor, Zalc was an honorable mention selection for the StatsPerform FCS National Special Teams Player of the Week.
Green had a team-high nine tackles for Dartmouth.

Against Merrimack last week Dartmouth faced a quarterback making just his second career start. This week it will go up against the quarterback who last week broke the record for the most completions in the long history of University of Pennsylvania football. Aidan Sayin, who already held the school's single-season completion record of 278, ran his career total to 665 in last week's win over Colgate. The previous Penn record of 651 was set by Gavin Hoffman in 2001. Find a story HERE.
For context, Dalyn Williams '16 holds the Big Green record of 620, followed by Brian Mann '02 with 560 and Jay Fiedler '94 with 456 (before freshman eligibility).

Dartmouth is among "others receiving votes" in the two prominent FCS national polls. Joining the Big Green in that recognition is upstart Brown:

EXTRA POINT
Driving to Merrimack and back on I-89 there were places along the highway where the foliage looked to be approaching peak, and there were places where there was almost no color yet. For those coming to Saturday's game against Penn, here are the current conditions from the VisitNH.gov site for our region. (LINK):
Dartmouth/Lake Sunapee Region: 15 – 25% Color Change
New shades of orange and maroon leaves have graced hillsides in the region, while forests still primarily shimmer with unchanged green leaves. We have not heard report of widespread change at this point, but stay tuned for latest updates. This week, more trees have taken on foliage in the western part of the region from Springfield through Lebanon. The summit of Mount Sunapee is showing very soft blushes of color in the forests, but not the deep colors we can expect to see in the coming weeks. The royal blue waters of Lake Sunapee are beautiful framed in any season, so be sure to save time for a visit this weekend.
And yes, they do take this stuff seriously in the north country.
