I read this morning that Gone with the Wind was first published on this day in 1936. A little research reveals that the first hard-cover edition was 1,037 pages. Yikes.

I went to see the film version of the book with Mrs. BGA once, and I thought that was interminable. I nodded off at least once during the movie and woke up two presidents later.
