Worth Watching

Broadcast highlights from Dartmouth's win over Columbia:

And while we're at it, here are Harvard highlights from the second half of last week's win at Princeton:

#

From an SI.com story headlined FCS Football Playoff Picture: Oct. 29 (LINK):
The Ivy League had some big games last weekend, with Harvard defeating Princeton and Yale knocking off Penn. The playoff picture did not really change; however, with the previously mentioned teams and Dartmouth all having one or fewer conference losses, they all have a shot at the auto bid.

A 9-1 Harvard or 8-2 Dartmouth would have the best chance for an at-large bid. The Big Green holds non-conference wins over New Hampshire and projected NEC champions Central Connecticut State. Dartmouth and Harvard will face off on Saturday in one of the most important Week 10 games.

Per FanDuel, Harvard is a 10½-point favorite Saturday against Dartmouth.

Elsewhere, Yale is a 21½-point home favorite over Columbia, Penn is a 12½-point home favorite over Brown, and Princeton is a 3½-point road favorite over Cornell.

Should Dartmouth defeat Harvard, and each of the Ivy favorites win, there will be a five-way tie at the top of the standings with three weeks to go.

If you haven't visited BGA Overtime yet today, the bonus post that went up last night had a capsule look at each Dartmouth-Harvard game since 2013. Why that year? From the story (LINK):

While Dartmouth's 6-4 record in 2010 marked its first winning record in 13 years, Harvard continued to run roughshod over the Big Green until 2013.

Since then, all but two Dartmouth-Harvard games have finished as one-score contests, and in one of those two seasons, it was heading that way until the final five minutes.

BGA OT will have its weekly Fearful Forecast tonight and the Dartmouth-Harvard preview tomorrow.

Green Alert Take: We'll be heading to Harvard Saturday morning and hope Mrs. BGA's ticket will be a little more reasonable than the tickets we bought for the UNH homecoming game against William & Mary game last week. Those came in at a whopping $46 apiece. But hey, at least we got to spend some quality time at the game with W&M Athletic Director Brian Mann, the former Dartmouth quarterback. ;-)

The pro football journey of former Dartmouth corner Tyron Herring '23 has taken another turn. From a Milwaukee Journal story carried by Yahoo (LINK):

The 6-foot-1, 201-pound Herring, who played at Dartmouth for four seasons and Delaware for two, was signed to the New England Patriots practice squad Sept. 23 and released Oct. 14. Herring had six tackles and a pass breakup with the Packers during the preseason. Herring will wear No. 46.

EXTRA POINT

On my desk here at the BGA World Headquarters I have a 5-by-18 inch whiteboard of sorts that I occasionally use to jot down quick notes, often thoughts about something I want to use on this site. Last evening I wrote two words for that exact reason: "Memory lane."

Just one problem.

I have absolutely no idea why I wrote "Memory lane."

Uh oh.  ;-)
