Plus One

To the list of Dartmouth commits heading this way next fall add the name of Emory “Tre” Jones III, a 6-foot-1, 180-pound defensive back/wide receiver from Cass Tech in Detroit. Here’s his commitment tweet (LINK):

Per recruiting sites, Jones is choosing Dartmouth over offers from Southern Mississippi, Central Michigan, Charlotte, Marshall, Miami (Ohio), Navy and Youngstown State.

Not much new if you’ve been following along, but the Cornell Sun has a game story HERE.

#

Dartmouth tailback DJ Crowther and defensive back Niquis Ratcliff were named to the Ivy League honor roll for their play in Saturday’s win over Cornell. Harvard quarterback Jaden Craig was chosen over Crowther as the offensive player of the week and Yale DB Abu Kamara won defensive player.

Green Alert Take: As usual this fall, the Ivy League release offered no information on what each of the players of the week did to earn the distinction. Sorry, but that's a failure by the league office.

#

By voting point totals, Dartmouth is 28th in the nation per the FCS Coaches Poll, which had Harvard 10th and Yale sneaking in at No. 25. The STATS Perform poll is kinder to Harvard at No. 8, but slots Dartmouth and Yale deeper in the Others Receiving Votes category with New Hampshire a surprise at No. 25.

Your Mileage May Vary went up on BGA Overtime last night and to the chagrin of some and the enjoyment of others, the cantankerous twosome will be stopping by the site tonight.

EXTRA POINT

I would guess Ive hiked our nearby trail close to 1,000 times or more in the six-or-so years weve lived in our Vermont hillside home, and just once have I come across a deer. Our house is two miles from the trailhead and we see deer all the time in our field, but the trail? Nope. Still, its deer season so I make it a practice of wearing blaze orange on my daily hike.

When I came off the mountain Sunday two hunters in camouflage were just climbing out of a pickup truck in the dirt parking lot at the trailhead. My first thought was that I was sure glad to be wearing blaze orange. My second thought? I was sure glad to be wearing blaze orange. ;-)
