Winning Ways

KDE continued its flag football dynasty by winning the championship once again this spring. The team was coached by junior tailback Dominick Pierre,  junior linebacker Mike Runger, senior defensive end John Golio and senior offensive lineman John Scheve (missing from picture).

Contributing some pretty fair football genes to the effort were Ali Oberg '13, whose father Curt '78, is eighth on the all-time Dartmouth rushing list, and Lauren Jenny '14, whose brother Alex '11, passed for 343 yards against Colgate in 2008, a single-game total surpassed only by Jay Fiedler, Greg Smith, Brian Mann and Charlie Rittgers.
Finally stumbled across the CFPA FCS Defensive Lineman Award Watch List for 2013 and Dartmouth will face no fewer than six players who made the cut:

• LeBrandon Richardson, Bethune-Cookman
• Michael Yules, Brown
• Jeff Covitz, Bryant
• Sean Sellers, Bucknell
• Jeremy Stephens, Butler
• Sullivan Grosz, Cal Poly
• Jonathan Woodard, Central Arkansas
• Derrick Lott, Chattanooga
• Davis Tull, Chattanooga

Paul Gorham, who guided Sacred Heart to a win over Dartmouth two years ago and then missed last fall's game after undergoing a double lung transplant that led to the amputation of both of his legs, had hoped to one day resume coaching the Pioneers. Greenwich Time has a note that Mark Nofri, who served as interim coach last fall, has officially been named the school's head coach. There is no information on Gorham's health but the paper says he "is no longer affiliated" with the school.
The local daily has a story (with photo) about the moose that wandered through campus the other day. (link) There's another photo of the moose jumping that made it around campus via email even faster than the moose. Look for it here tomorrow.
