Elsewhere On Super Bowl Sunday . . .

Former Dartmouth quarterback Jack Heneghan '18, who lasted with the San Francisco 49ers until the final preseason game last fall, has earned a spot on the roster of the Arizona Hotshots of the Alliance of American Football. He's one of three QBs on the squad along with Texas A&M product Trevor Knight and former Wake Forest QB John Wofford. Heneghan is joined on the team by New Hampshire graduate Andrew Lauderdale, a 6-foot-6, 290-pound tackle.

Led by former Washington, Colorado and UCLA coach Rick Neuheisel, the Hotshots open play one week from today against Salt Lake Stallions in a night game to be carried on the NFL Network. The Hotshots play at Sun Devil Stadium.

Also among the 48 FCS players making roster of AAF teams is former Holy Cross quarterback Peter Pujals, a member of the Atlanta Legends. Heneghan is the only Ivy product in the league.
Continuing his football career a good deal further from home is former All-Ivy League defensive end Nick Tomkins '18, one of the allowed two Americans (usually a defensive end and a quarterback) on the Cougars of Saint-Ouen-l'Aumône, a French football team based in the suburbs of Paris. Tomkins is joined by quarterback Luke Casey, who began his career at Rhode Island before transferring to West Virginia Wesleyan.

Signing with the Cougars in the past were Yale quarterbacks Patrick Witt and Matt Polhemus, a handful of former Harvard players and others from Penn and Brown along with former FBS players from UCLA, Colorado State, Wake Forest, Virginia, North Carolina State and George Tech among others.

In addition to playing, Tomkins will serve as an assistant coach.
