Check Them Out

There's no narration on this video of the New York Giants' undrafted free agents, but you can see a few clips of Dartmouth product Niko Lalos starting at the 1:08 mark. CLICK HERE to watch the video (with thanks to a loyal reader for the tip).

While there's only music with the video of Lalos there's only audio with this "video" of Cincinnati Bengals free agents. At the 5:18 mark the narrator speaks glowingly of Dartmouth corner Isiah Swann. Check out the video HERE.

The Chronicle of Higher Education has updated its status report on colleges and universities and their plans for the fall. Here's what they have for the Ivy League and several other schools of local interest (LINK):

Brown
The university is leaning toward in-person classes. Brown’s president, Christina Paxson, wrote an op-ed in The New York Times that called the reopening of college campuses a "national priority" and that proposed strict virus testing and tracing protocols to ensure safety.

Columbia
No information. (Editor's Note: In a Wednesday Zoom conference coach Al Bagnoli expressed confidence about the chances of playing a full 10-game season.)

Cornell
No decision expected until June

Dartmouth
“The probability of a full residential, business-as-usual fall term is not very high,” the provost says.

Harvard
The campus will be open, but the provost says "We will need to prepare for a scenario in which much or all learning will be conducted remotely."

Penn
“Planning for a likely combination of in-class and virtual teaching.”

Princeton
No information.

Yale
Decision expected by early July

Dartmouth football opponents:

New Haven
Intends to bring students back to campus in August, but is also “exploring academic contingencies for a variety of scenarios”

Marist
No information. (From the school's COVID-109 site: At this time, the situation for the future is unknown. The senior team is monitoring the coronavirus situation on a daily basis leveraging the guidance of health professionals, local and state officials, and the CDC to help guide our policies and decisions.

Towson
No information. (From the school site: TU looks forward to a return to normal operations and welcoming all new and returning students, faculty and staff to campus this fall, provided that federal and state guidance lifts current social distancing restrictions related to COVID-19.)

Regionally:
Vermont
Based on information currently available, I am confident UVM will be able to return to in-person status in fall 2020," the president said.

Maine
Planning for in-person classes

Middlebury
“We are working toward a safe and secure opening of our campus for the fall semester,” with a plan to be announced by June 22.
EXTRA POINT
We watched Raiders of the Lost Ark last night on the welcome return of the Sunday Night Movies on CBS. Raiders came out in 1981, four years before AOL brought the Internet (and movie searches) to the masses. I remember going to see it at the Nugget Theater in Hanover with absolutely no clue what it was going to be about and finding it thoroughly entertaining.

Probably my two favorite movie stories have to do with Rocky and Back to the Future. Like Raiders, I had no idea about Rocky but was lucky enough to see it right in Philadelphia. The location only made it better with the Philly crowd roaring for one of its own.

As for Back to the Future, it really was exactly that. It came out in 1985, a full year before I would meet the future Mrs. BGA. It took a little sleuthing but we eventually realized that we were both in the same theater, on the same night, for the same showing of the movie – but 310 miles from Hanover. She was visiting her sister and I was visiting my parents about 20 miles away. True story.

No idea if we were in the same row but maybe with a little help from Dr. Emmett Brown and a Flux Capacitor we could find out.
