A couple of outtakes from the column:
It’s always a good sign when a player dominates his level of competition, regardless of whether it’s a major football program or a smaller school.
It’s also a good sign when said player improves his production each year of his college career, as Lalos did at Dartmouth, where he recorded 10 of his 17.5 tackles for a loss and 5.5.of his 11.0 career sacks in his final season.
And . . .
Lalos is a smart, fundamentally sound player who, with a strong training camp, will likely find a home on the Giants practice squad.•
Yesterday was Dartmouth's virtual commencement and here's a sample of what was on the screen when the graduates were introduced:
Ryan Roegge was a two-time All-Ivy League safety for the Big Green out of Marietta, Ga.

The local Valley News has a story about a call to remove the weather vane atop the Baker Library tower HERE. If you can't access that story WCAX-TV has a short piece including a video HERE.
This is the weather vane in question. It has been atop the library since 1928. It is 8-feet-9 inches long and weighs 600 pounds:

EXTRA POINT
I watched a good deal of the PGA Tour event from Fort Worth yesterday until the recording ended just as the playoff was beginning. Argh.
Granted, I enjoy golf on TV but I was still surprised at how little I missed the galleries crowding around the greens and lining the fairways. I got a kick out of the golf fans peering at the action from behind chain link fencing and wherever they could get a glimpse of the course. Their occasional cheers and the ambient sound made it easy at times to forget the unusual circumstances of the broadcast.
I also found it interesting how seamless the banter was between Jim Nantz on site, and Nick Faldo and others in the studio. You really couldn't tell they weren't all together.
It didn't hurt, of course, that the tournament had a dramatic finish ;-)
