Video Friday

Dartmouth College – not Dartmouth football – has posted a couple of videos. The one that follows I give a big thumb's up:

Leave it to Mrs. BGA to spot congratulations to Drew Estrada, who would have "walked" at graduation but because of an injury that sidelined him still has a little work left to do in the classroom and on the field. Find his recognition at the 37-second mark.
There's another video that I have to admit to mixed feelings about. I understand removing the weather vane but I'm not sure about adding music to the video, however funereal:

Find a story about the removal of the weather vane HERE.

Green Alert Take: I thinking you can count me in the green or white camp.
From the local Valley News (LINK):
The CHaD East-West All-Star Football Game was canceled on Thursday evening, the latest victim of the coronavirus pandemic that has wiped nearly all of the Twin States’ summer high school showcase sports events off the schedule.
Last year's game raised just shy of $250,000 for the Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock.

The Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl, long a staple at Dartmouth's Memorial Field until moving away when the Big Green's stadium was under reconstruction, has not announced a decision yet. It is slated for Aug. 4 at Castleton University in Vermont. A decision may come next week.
Yahoo Sports' Pete Thamel has a column under the headline, With a pandemic nightmare looming in the fall, college leaders can still save football season. (LINK)

From the story:
There’s no perfect solution or plan for college football returning. But with cases spiking, rosters idling in quarantine and uncertainty shrouding the sport, perhaps college officials should start some exploration and modeling of the spring option.
If they want better safety, more money and better odds to actually finish the season, it’s a safer bet than the buzzsaw that awaits.
Green Alert Take: I'm no lawyer, but the feeling here is if you move football to the spring you probably should move all fall sports to the spring for liability reasons. As Thamel writes, there very well may be a "buzzsaw" awaiting, but as someone who worked in Dartmouth sports information for five years and has covered the athletic program for many more, I simply can't imagine how Ivy League schools, with their expansive athletic offerings, could possibly cram a full ledger of fall and spring sports into one season, both from facilities and administrative points of view.
EXTRA POINT
Spotted on an old air-cooled VW bus at the mechanic working on our somewhat newer – but also underpowered – water-cooled 1984 Volkswagen pop-top camper:

So true!
