Dartmouth head coach Buddy Teevens is featured prominently in a story posted on the Forbes website. From the magazine (LINK):
“The way we would look at it is spring practice in the fall,” said Buddy Teevens, whose Dartmouth Big Green went 26-4 the past three seasons and won a share of the Ivy League title in 2019. “Maybe we could do some strength and conditioning. If that goes well, we could move to positional work in small groups of 10 or less, including a coach. If that goes well, then we could get 20-25 players working together and perhaps scrimmage opportunities.”
“There is a lot of gray area, and I understand that,” said Teevens. “Nobody has answers. Nobody has been down this road before. It’s a tough situation, but it’s the world we are in right now.”

It’s hard to believe that it’s come to this, but until and unless the Northeast Conference pulls the plug if you want to root for a "local" FCS team you may have to adopt one from the Ivy League’s nearest neighbor, so far still intending to play this fall.

How badly do FBS schools need the money that is at stake this fall? Few may need it as much as Rutgers, whose woes illustrate what can happen at the next level of the college game. Bloomberg has a story under the headline Professors sue Rutgers for explanation of $100M shifted to athletic department (LINK) that includes this:
“Rutgers Athletics has been a financial black hole for a long time, but in the past year, the university transferred more than $100 million in all to the athletic program, and they don’t want to say why or where the money came from,” Todd Wolfson, president of Rutgers AAUP-AFT, said.

EXTRA POINT
For several years I worked with a writer who served in the U.S. Army in the mid-to-late 1970s. For at least part of his stint he was posted at West Point where his assignment, if you can believe it, was to work in the Army sports information office.
He told a funny story one time that he swore was true. Working sports info at West Point apparently wasn't the most strict of military assignments given what this fellow was called on the carpet for one time. Wait for it . . .
He couldn't find his hat.
I found myself thinking about that yesterday. See, I'm helping out with a blog and a little writing for the annual Tommy Keane Invitational golf tournament today through Sunday. (LINK)
As I was pulling together what I needed to bring to the Lake Sunapee Country Club – hosting this year with Hanover Country Club shut down – I couldn't find my trusty clipboard. True story, that blue metal clipboard is never out of my site when I am covering Dartmouth football for BGA.
But with no spring football, no Green Line newsletters, no recruiting bios to write for sports information and no previews for the fall season to work on I couldn't find that most basic of tools of the job.
I did manage to find another clipboard, although it's not the most professional one you will ever see. I'm guessing this is from when That Certain Dartmouth '14 was in, oh, second or third grade. And while the green paint smeared off over the years, your can probably figure out what it says, and it did tell the future ;-)
