Light At The End Of The Tunnel?

While the breaking news this morning of an effective vaccine probably won't influence Ivy League presidents as they try to reach a decision about a spring football season – if they haven't decided already, which I believe they have – it certainly raises optimism about the Ancient Eight returning to the field next year. You'll have to scroll down a bit but noting that Saturday should have been the next in a series of great contests, the always-interesting TigerBlog reflects on the past two Dartmouth-Princeton football games HERE.

While the vaccine news is good, COVID-19 concern is growing in the Upper Valley. From a news report (LINK):

As of Friday, Dartmouth-Hitchcock returned to more restrictive caregiver and approved visitor procedures at its facilities, including its hospital in Manchester.

No visitors will be allowed to Dartmouth-Hitchcock facilities with the exception of patients requiring caregivers, pediatric patients, labor and delivery and prenatal patients, perioperative patients, family meetings, patients at the end of life, and D-H employees and volunteers.

Despite the rising number of cases the Dartmouth Skiway is planning to open this winter. From a story in The Dartmouth (LINK):

(T)he Skiway has been approved to operate in the winter and will follow New Hampshire guidelines for ski areas, which mandate social distancing and mask-wearing in crowded areas.

And . . .

In terms of the operations at the McLane Family Lodge, (Skiway manager Mark) Adamczyk said the general public will likely be able to access only the bathrooms and rental reservations area.

The Skiway will not allow skiers to gear up or put on clothing in the lodge itself, Adamczyk said, hoping instead that skiers will use their cars for that purpose.

I don't know about you, but I found some of the comments by the Notre Dame athletic director in regard to what happened after Saturday night's dramatic win over Clemson disturbing. Read the story HERE.
