Every year when we were kids my mother, who grew up in Copenhagen, would make klejner, the Danish Christmas cookie. The joke (at least I think it is a joke) is my mother wouldn't share her recipe for the cookies with Mrs. BGA until she was sure the marriage would last ;-)

While Mrs. BGA had to wait to get the recipe, her now sister-in-law came by it naturally and a few days before Christmas went about the business of making what we always called "Danish cookies" to share with friends. In anticipation of tonight's end of a year we'll never forget she shot a fitting picture of the klejner dough before rolling it out:
