Next on tap after last week's Adobe Spark presentation about the Dartmouth offense is a look at the Big Green defense
HERE.
As was the case with the offensive presentation, there are bios of each of the coaches on the defensive side with full-screen photos and this photo montage:

PennLive has a story under the headline,
What led to an All-Ivy League selection picking Penn State as his transfer destination for one final season? (
LINK)
The player in question is
Harvard's Eric Wilson, a 6-foot-4, 280-pound offensive lineman selected to the All-Ivy League second team in 2019. He will graduate this spring and use the final season of eligibility brought on by the cancellation of the Ivy season in Happy Valley. He'd originally committed to Auburn for his grad season but with the firing of coach Gus Malzahn revisited his decision.

Unfortunately, Dartmouth doesn't have any football games slated against Patriot League opponents next fall. But if you are curious about teams in the conference most aligned with Ivy League student-athlete philosophy, STATS Perform has a look at the Patriot League race heading into the spring season

Another reminder that the Ivy League will have some decisions to make when "Name, Image, Likeness" legislation is passes comes in the form of an Associated Press story that includes this (

The latest federal bill related to college sports would allow athletes to earn money from endorsements, loosen restrictions around transfers and permit players to return to school after entering a professional league’s draft.

Belle Koclanes, who has spent seven seasons as the the head coach of Dartmouth women's basketball and eight years in Hanover, is stepping down from that position to head up a Delaware non-profit "dedicated to spreading the power of character-driven leadership." (LINK)
Koclanes' best season at Dartmouth came in 2017-18 when she led the Big Green to a 15-12 record. She will leave with a 77-117 overall record and a 34-64 mark in the Ivy League.
The winner of 17 Ivy league titles between the 1979-80 and the 2008-09 seasons, Dartmouth women's basketball has enjoyed just one winning season over its last 11 campaigns, and none in conference play.

The Dartmouth has a story headlined Surge in COVID-19 on campus sees 25 active cases, 68 in quarantine and isolation. From the story (LINK):
Students on campus will shift to to-go options for meals until at least Sunday, meaning that students must use Green2Go containers to pick up food and will not be able to eat inside any dining facilities.
Alumni Gym and Zimmerman Fitness Center have also closed due to the outbreak, and in-person athletic activity has been paused until further notice. Club practices have also been put on hold indefinitely.
The college has a story HERE and the college's COVID dashboard with up-to-date numbers is HERE.

EXTRA POINT
The temperature here on Rogers Hill in West Newbury, Vt., hit 40 degrees for the first time in 2021 yesterday but that's only one sign that spring is coming. Here's another:
The tracks running past our solar tracker and across our field are from an ATV belonging to a farmer up the hill who owns a sugar bush adjacent to our property. At the first sign of warmer temperatures each year he heads into the woods to get his maple sugaring operation going again and will be making multiple trips across our land each day for the next month or so.
Trees are best tapped when daytime temperatures are consistently above freezing and the temps at night dip below freezing. In case you were wondering, it takes about 40 gallons of sap to boil down to one gallon of syrup, which is why the stuff isn't cheap. But it sure is yummy ;-)
