The latest introductory video from the Dartmouth football office features Tristan Holmbeck, a 6-foot-4, 260-pound offensive lineman from Springside Chestnut Hill Academy and Philadelphia, Pa. Watch it HERE.

The Ivy League has issued a five-sentence statement in light of the Name, Image and Likeness developments in college athletics. The key sentence:

“One of the fundamental philosophies of the Ivy League is that student-athletes should have the same opportunities as all students, including the option to engage in projects that use their name, image and likeness,” Ivy League Executive Director Robin Harris said.

Green Alert Take: Still waiting for the statement saying, "One of the fundamental philosophies of the Ivy League is that football players should have the same opportunities as all student-athletes and be allowed to participate in the NCAA championships."

The Carolina Huddle has an entry headlined, The Who's Who of Unknowns on the Carolina Panthers Roster. One of the two dozen players mentioned is former Dartmouth tackle Matt Kaskey '19. (LINK)

Among the update New York's Capital Region Football Hall of Fame 2021 inductees is Bob Higgins '81, a former teammate of Dartmouth coach Buddy Teevens. From a story in the Daily Gazette (LINK):

A high school All-American at Albany Academy, he earned a spot on the Dartmouth football team, only to suffer a career ending injury. After football, he earned a medical degree and became the first Black surgeon-in-chief and director of surgery at Johns Hopkins hospitals.

The latest Ivy schools to "announce" their already-known football schedules for 2021 are Brown and Yale.

The Analyst (nee STATS Perform, nee The Sports Network) has a story headlined, Even Walter Payton May Have Called This the Year of the Running Back in FCS that includes a list of returning 1,000-yard rushers across the subdivision landscape. (LINK)

Zane Dudek, Yale – 1,133 yards in 2017
Aaron Shampklin, Harvard – 1,053 yards in 2018

Featured in the graphic accompanying the story is Sacred Heart running back Julius Chestnut, who ran for 1,495 yards in 2019.


Dartmouth's leading rusher returning for 2021? That would be quarterback Derek Kyler with 106 yards. The returning running back with the most yards? Zack Bair, with 83 before being lost to injury in the third game of the 2019 season.

I snapped this picture of the local bank a couple of weeks ago:

No kidding, almost every time I drive by the bank I imagine what Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid would think if they saw that building.

If Butch and Sundance stopped by today between 11 and 2 they might treat the old building with a little more respect. It's Customer Appreciation Day with free homemade strawberry shortcake. You have to love small-town life.
