On my hike early this morning I came across this reminder that while I'm not in any way ready for summer to end it won't be all that long until fans will filter into Dartmouth's Memorial Field for the first time in two years.
A huge thank you to those who have already signed up for the 2021 edition of BGA Premium as well as those who plan to join them. While I don't have to remind any of you how difficult the past 18 months have been, what I will say is that for as much work as it is producing stories seven days a week, it is a relief to be gearing up for another season covering Dartmouth College football.
A reminder that while a BGA Premium subscription entitles your entire household to access the site, it's very helpful if everyone uses the same account. Given that I'm a one-person operation, the administrative side of doing this is a big headache as it is, and multiple usernames and passwords for each account only make things that much more difficult.

This time of year, in particular, I wrestle with what to do when news breaks during the day. I try to have a few notes of interest for you every morning and, as you've not doubt seen, it can be quite a thrash finding something. On occasion something comes across my computer and I have to decide whether to post it or hold it.
After putting BGA Daily to bed yesterday (that's newspaperese for hitting the "publish" button) the 2021 Ivy League football TV broadcast schedule went public. I didn't post it and probably should have, but hey, at least I have something good for today, right?
It turns out Dartmouth will have a league-high three Friday night games carried by ESPNU as part of the Ivy League package this fall including, as expected, the conference opener at Penn. Here's the full TV schedule Game times are still to be announced.
Friday, Sept 24 - Brown-Harvard (ESPNU)
Friday, Oct 1 - Dartmouth-Penn (ESPNU)
Friday, Oct 22 - Columbia-Dartmouth (ESPNU)
Friday, Oct 29 - Princeton-Cornell (ESPNU)
Friday, Nov 5 - Princeton-Dartmouth (ESPNU)
Saturday, Nov 20 - Harvard-Yale (TBA)
Green Alert Take: On a personal note, the Dartmouth-Penn game in Philly on a Friday night works out perfectly for me. As was the case the last time the Big Green played in Pennsylvania on a Friday there's a Penn State game at Beaver Stadium the next day, and once again Mrs. BGA and I plan to be there. It will mean staying somewhere between Philly and State College Friday night, getting up in the wee hours Saturday morning to beat the traffic to Happy Valley and then spending a king's ransom to buy tickets on the secondary market, but we're both a Dartmouth and a Penn State family so it's worth the hassle. (And if anyone has any connections that might help us score reasonably priced tickets to the PSU-Indiana game, I'm all ears ;-)

The latest incoming players to be featured in the Dartmouth football program's video series on incoming freshmen are Indianapolis twins Micah Green and Josiah Green. Micah is a 6-foot-1, 220-pound linebacker and Josiah a 6-2, 240 defensive lineman.

An ESPN story is one of the first hints that the NIL legislation is going to have ramifications for more than just individuals. From the STORY:
The owner of a Florida-based chain of mixed martial arts gyms unveiled big plans Tuesday to try to help Miami Hurricanes football players take advantage of new rules that allow them to make money.
Dan Lambert, the owner of American Top Team and a longtime Miami football fan, has offered each scholarship player (90 total) on the Miami football team a monthly payment of $500 this year to advertise his gyms on social media.
Lambert said . . .
"I want to improve the reputation of the school and the team I love so much.
More from the story (italics are mine) . . .
Lambert has also started a corporation, called Bring Back The U, that will be solely focused on putting money in the pockets of Miami football players. He said the company will attempt to rally support from local businesses to hire the players as spokesmen. He says he also plans to host fundraising events and then donate the proceeds to any local business that agrees to use the donation to pay for Miami players as spokesmen.
Green Alert Take: Scary to think what's next.

EXTRA POINT
Last night we went one town south to an outdoor concert featuring the Vermont Army National Guard's 40th Army Band. It was the first concert on the Fairlee Common since 2019 and a perfect slice of rural New England life.
At one point the band member serving as emcee asked everyone in the audience who either served in the military or had family members who served to stand when the medley reached their particular branch of the armed forces.
Neither Mrs. BGA nor I have been in the military but the call to honor family members led us to stand when the band started with Anchors Aweigh. I found myself tremendously moved thinking about my grandfather, a proud graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, and my father, a Navy veteran who served in World War II. As someone who had not been in the military I had been hesitant to stand and only once on my feet did I realize standing was a very special way for Mrs. BGA and I to honor my father and grandfather.
