The FCS college opener is 20 days from today when North Carolina Central plays Alcorn State in the MEAC-SWAC Challenge.

It was a rite of summer for years and years but when Dartmouth's Memorial Field was being renovated in 2014 (LINK) the annual Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl game pitting the top graduated seniors from New Hampshire against those from Vermont was moved out of Hanover. The game, which really felt like the kickoff to the new season (as well as the much-loved Shrine parade through the streets of town) hasn't returned. It was played again yesterday at Vermont's Division III Castleton University with New Hampshire claiming a 21-0 win over Vermont.
