Here are the weekend scores with a pithy comment or two on each . . .
Princeton 56, Brown 42
After the Tigers (5-0, 2-0) pitched shutouts in their first two games some pundits started to make comparisons to the 1970 Dartmouth team that had six shutouts in nine games. Not so fast, my friend. Against Brown (1-4, 0-2) the Princeton defense gave up as many points as the '70 Big Green did in the entire season. Quarterback Cole Smith completed 25-of-27 passes for 476 yards with four touchdowns for Princeton and Brown's EJ Perry threw for 331 yards and five touchdowns while also running for 82 yards. Attendance was 4,880 in Providence.
Harvard 30, Lafayette 3
Lafayette is a Patriot League team not named Holy Cross. Nuff said. Harvard tailback Aidan Borquet outgained the entire Lafayette team, running for 169 yards on 22 carries while the Leopards managed just 159 total yards. Attendance at Harvard was 5,641.
UConn 21, Yale 15
Sorry quarterback play cost the Bulldogs (2-3, 1-1) in-state bragging rights. The two quarterbacks who played for Yale finished 19-for-54 with four interceptions including one in the UConn (1-7) end zone on the final play of the game. Attendance at UConn's off-campus stadium was 18,596.
Columbia 23, Penn 14
To the chagrin of the Penn faithful, the Bagnoli Bowl goes to Columbia (4-1, 1-1) for the second time in a row with Dante Miller running for 187 yards, including a 75-yard touchdown run and a 41-yard burst. Quakers (2-3, 0-2) quarterback John Quinnelly was 6-for-25 for 83 yards. Attendance was 11,054 at Columbia, which does a terrific job with Homecoming.
Cornell 34, Colgate 20 (Friday)
Remember what it said above about Patriot League teams not named Holy Cross? Colgate (2-5, 2-0 PL) is a Patriot League team. Nuff said. Cornell (1-4, 0-2) had 241 yards rushing and 231 passing. Attendance was 2,294 at the Crescent.
Sacred Heart 27, Central Connecticut 17
No Chestnut, no problem as Sacred Heart (4-3, 2-1 NEC) scored 24 unanswered points in the second half in a win over the Blue Devils (1-4, 1-1 NEC). Malik Grant ran for 86 yards and three TDs for the Pios. (Seriously, that's what they sometimes call the Pioneers.) Attendance at Sacred Heart was 2,853.

EXTRA POINT
With That Certain Dartmouth '14 in Rangeley, Maine for a wedding and having to be at Logan Airport this afternoon, we had to do car jockeying that required us to stay over in Kittery Maine, just 20 minutes or so from New Hampshire. That meant driving the EV here, which required charging before we eventually head back home. Fast chargers at an outlet mall here made that a cinch. It's a reminder that as more chargers come online trips like this with an EV will be easy . . . until there are so many electric vehicles on the road that you have to wait to plug in. Fortunately that's not usually the case yet.
