The Bengals.com web page has a story about Katie Blackburn '86 and her role as executive vice president of the Cincinnati Bengals under her father, Mike Brown '57, the team owner. From the story (LINK):
"She's spent her entire life proving she's a football person. I don't think of her as a man or a woman. She's a football person. That's the biggest compliment I can give her," says Peter Schaffer, the Colorado-based heavyweight agent who has slugged out many 15-round decisions with Blackburn, ranging from Rudi Johnson's 2005 extension to last weekend's quick-strike singing of La'el Collins.
"What's impressive is the type of reverence she has around the league. When you talk to general managers or other owners and who people are listening to at the owners' meetings, at the competition committee meetings, all that stuff, when she talks people listen. That comes from respect. It's not how much you talk, it's what you say."

Jaydon Hodge, a safety from Ocala, Fla., will head to Penn next fall. Yes, he heard from Dartmouth but chose instead to continue his football career and education in West Philadelphia. So why mention him here? Check out this Tweet:
So Help Me Understand This, An Ivy League School Can Go To The Post Season For Basketball (March Madness), But An Ivy League School Can’t Go To The Post Season For Football (FCS Playoffs)🤔?… Let The Ivy League Champion Get A Bid To The FCS Playoffs!!! #VoiceOfChange‼️
— Jaydon Hodge (@_hodgesauce_) March 26, 2022
Green Alert Take: Welcome to Ivy World, Jaydon. I'm reminded of my years sitting on press row for Dartmouth basketball games with a revolving cast of reporters from The Dartmouth to my right. Midway through his senior year one winter a reporter turned to me and said, and I quote, "They aren't going to make the NCAA Tournament while I'm here." I answered back, "I don' think they'll make it while I'm here, either." I spent 18 years sitting on that press row and I was right. They still haven't make it yet, but they have a better chance than young Mr. Hodge does of playing in the FCS playoffs thanks to a group of Ivy League presidents without the courage to do the right thing.

EXTRA POINT
With my regular hiking trails unaccessible because of mud-locked roads, I did a seven-mile hike up and around the Cross Rivendell Trail Friday afternoon. Here's a quick glimpse at a little brook I shot with my iPod (actually That Certain Dartmouth '14's old iPhone with no sim card ;-)
