A Deserving Tribute

When Dartmouth was rebuilding the home grandstand at Memorial Field the wise decision was made to save the historic brick wall facing Crosby Street. Those who walk through its arches follow in the footsteps of people whose memories are celebrated today on a plaque near the main gate.

This is not the first time this has appeared on this page and with any luck will not be the last.

The inscription reads:

A Tribute
From
the forty seven surviving
Dartmouth veterans of
the Civil War 1861-65
to the
thirty four hundred and seven
men of Dartmouth who entered
their country's service in
the Great War 1914-1918
November
1923
