Gotta admit, this one caught me off guard.
Former Dartmouth quarterback Derek Kyler made an official visit to Pittsburgh as the Panthers look for QB depth. From a Pittsburgh Now story about the potential grad transfer (LINK):
Kyler, a multi-year starter at Dartmouth after enrolling in 2017, is being looked at as a depth option for Pitt to use a potential No. 3 quarterback this season.
With one season of eligibility remaining in college football, Kyler would potentially help bridge the gap between the Pitt quarterbacks on the roster now and the likes of Yarnell and 2023 four-star quarterback commit Kenny Minchey in the future.
Pitt's Panther-Lair website is behind a paywall (LINK) but here's the lede:
Pitt has a very interesting visitor on campus today. Dartmouth grad transfer quarterback Derek Kyler confirmed with Panther-Lair.com that he is in town checking out the Panthers for a midweek official (visit).
Kyler, who set a Dartmouth record by completing 69.3 percent of his career passes and had 17 touchdown tosses to one interception last fall, had grad transfer offers from UMass, New Mexico, Samford, Chattanooga and Eastern Illinois but seemed to be ready to move on with his life before Pitt came along.
Green Alert Take: If Kyler wants to start on his masters and have it paid for, spending a year holding a clipboard wouldn't be the worst duty. Having watched him since he stepped on campus, I'm confident if he chooses to give it a shot and were to get on the field he would surprise a lot of people.

From NorthJersey.com (LINK):
Twelve players from Essex County schools were among the 90 high school seniors across New Jersey chosen for the 44th annual Phil Simms New Jersey North South High School All-Star Football Classic, taking place on Sunday, June 12 at Kean University.
And one of those dozen from Essex County is . . .
Chris Corbo - West Essex DB
Corbo was dominant offensively, catching 32 passes for 452 yards and five touchdowns for the Knights, who reached a sectional final. On defense, Corbo had 112 tackles and four interceptions to lead a West Essex defense that held opponents under nine points per game this season. The 6-foot-5 Corbo will play in the Ivy League for Dartmouth.
In The Green Line, the Friends of Dartmouth Football newsletter, coach Buddy Teevens had this to say about Corbo:
“He played free safety and outside linebacker, wideout and H-back. He has a lot of athleticism. And he understands the game. He can do a lot of different things. We like him now as kind of an H/flex back guy. Similar to what JJ Jones was. He has that type of athleticism. He’s a taller kid who was a terrific basketball player. He still has some growth potential.”

And speaking of incoming freshmen, here's a graphic pulled together by the Dartmouth football office showing the entire incoming class:
For those of you keeping score, after five days of work our "back 40" has now been mowed. "Hayed" may be more accurate. The field beyond the lawn in the photo I just shot had shot up 2-to-3 feet high, necessitating a ton of weedwhacking in some places, and mowing back and forth and back again. I'll be staying on top of it now.
