On The Road

Quick one today before we head four hours south to Fairfield, Conn., for the Dartmouth-Sacred Heart game.

Sacred Heart finally posted its game notes. They can be found HERE.

I've been reminded that in addition to watching a stream of the game on NEC Front Row HERE and accessing audio of the game on your computer HERE, it's available on the Dartmouth Sports app (LINK).

Here's today's schedule featuring Dartmouth opponents. Two conference games are on tap:

Harvard at Brown
Yale at Cornell
Lehigh at Princeton
Lafayette  at Penn
Columbia at Georgetown

New Hampshire at Towson
San Diego at Valparaiso

The Fearful Forecast on BGA Premium offers pithy thoughts and predictions for all of those games. ;-)

Former Dartmouth football team doctor Charlie Carr was the focus of my coverage of the Tommy Keane Invitational golf tournament at nearby Quechee Club yesterday. Carr and Scott Peters, son of former Dartmouth Athletic Director Seaver Peters, have a unique distinction in the 47-year tournament's history. Find the story HERE.

EXTRA POINT
Reason No. 100 why I'm glad I'm not at the newspaper anymore. With the printing operation now handled at another newspaper, the deadline is, as they say in these parts, wicked early. It used to be if I covered an important Dartmouth basketball game I could sometimes push the deadline to 11:15 p.m.  For the story I sent to the newspaper yesterday on the golf tournament the deadline was 5 p.m., and the final groups were still on the course. Fortunately, I was writing a feature-oriented story and could sneak a sentence in about the leaders with confidence that the 61 they shot early in the morning would hold up even with players still on the course.

The first matches in the tournament are today while I'm in Connecticut and I'm going to try to send the newspaper a few results, but to be honest I'm not optimistic I be able to get anything useful in time to turn it around.

Tomorrow will be a crazy day as I start the day early trying to pull together a Dartmouth follow (or two) and then head out to the course to cover the championship match. It's possible the BGA Premium stuff will go up later than I'd like, but we'll see. Wish me luck.

And did I mention I have a freelance story due as well?
