Potpourri

In yesterday's Questions For Coach, Buddy Teevens confirmed that there will indeed be a postseason game pitting a group of graduating Ivy League all-stars against a Japanese team in January. He said he hopes the Big Green can resume playing Holy Cross sometime in the future, explained why he believes in fair catching kickoffs, and addressed the future of the Ivy League graduate transfer model and more. Check out the Q&A HERE.

Speaking of grad transfers, here's an interview with former Dartmouth tight end Robbie Mangas, who explains his decision to play this year at Buffalo at the 1:38 mark. In addition to the Ivy League prohibition against grad eligibility, he speaks to the conference's playoff ban.

Mangas also talks about successfully running for a first down on a fake punt in the Buffalo game against Bowling Green.

In a story in the Columbia Spectator headlined Columbia football looking to bounce back against Dartmouth at Homecoming on Saturday, Lions coach Al Bagnoli says this about Dartmouth playing Nick Howard and Dylan Cadwallader at quarterback (LINK):

“I think we have to prepare for both. I think in their perfect world they want to have a big, rugged guy at quarterback that can handle the QB run plays and the short yardage stuff and the goalline stuff, and they also want to come in with a guy that can really move the chains, [make] high percentage throws, and I think that’s what they’re trying to evolve to, just like they did last year and the year before.”

Dartmouth took undefeated Penn to overtime but that apparently didn't impress the Daily Pennsylvanian writer whose power rating of Ivy League teams looks like this (LINK):

1. Princeton
2. Harvard
3. Penn
4. Yale
5. Columbia
6. Cornell
7. Brown
8. Dartmouth

There are four unbeaten Ivy League teams as we speak. There will be two when this week is finished. The Analyst's Craig Haley includes both battles-of-the-unbeatens in his "Week 8 Games of the Week" HERE.

While Craig has notes on the teams, what you are most interested in is who he's picking, right? He has Harvard defeating Princeton on Friday night and Yale knocking off Penn on Saturday afternoon.

Games featuring two of Dartmouth's nonconference opponents also made the Analyst story. Haley picks New Hampshire to defeat Elon and Sacred Heart to stumble against Merrimack.

EXTRA POINT
We'd love to take our EV to the Columbia game as we did to Yale, but it's already a v-e-r-y long day when you do a down-and-back to New York City in one day – with a football game mixed in. Factoring in a couple or even three charging sessions would only make the trip take that much longer.

Taking a long day trip in an EV will make more sense if/when we get the next iteration of an electric car, which will have much faster charging capability and more range. Our current car can eke out 300 miles on a charge, but unfortunately we're limited to an 80 percent charge until we get a new battery pack as the result of a recall.
