Flo Making His Mark

The Calgary Stampeders' season ended one game short of playing for the Grey Cup, but former Dartmouth linebacker Flo Orimolade '17, the 2016 Bushnell Cup winner as the Ivy League's defensive player of the year, ended with a bang. Here's No. 9 with a sack:

From a story in the Calgary Sun headlined, 10 things on our minds for the Stampeders off-season (LINK):

Folarin Orimolade had a breakout season. He’d been hit by really bad injury luck for most of his career, so it was nice to see him get 17 games in and emerge as one of the CFL’s elite pass-rushers. He was arguably the Stamps’ top performer in the West Division Semifinal, picking up two sacks and a forced fumble.

It feels like Orimolade is primed for even more of a breakout season next year, so getting him re-signed is going to be a top, top priority.

Orimolade finished the year with 37 tackles, one interception and six sacks. He had six tackles and a forced fumble in a 30-16 loss to the BC Lions in the Western semifinals.

While Orimolade dodged the injury bug this year it was different for former Dartmouth wide receiver Drew Estrada '20. After missing all of the Houston Texans preseason with a lingering leg injury, he was was placed on the team's practice squad injured list at the end of October with an achilles issue.

EXTRA POINT
With an old iPhone repurposed as an iPod I wasn't able to do the full moon rising over football practice last night justice with this picture.

The moon is just fading away in a photo I shot at the top of the mountain during my hike this morning. This is facing west, and while the sun was just barely up the foreground is dark and the hills on the horizon light because of the shadow of the mountain I was atop.
