Stay Tuned

Better make this quick because the forecast was correct. We are getting overpowering wind gusts and torrential rain. The power has already blinked out on us once and it's only a matter of time until we go dark. I'm frankly surprised that the power is still on. When the rain and wind subside this afternoon an arctic chill is expected to freeze everything in place. Glad we have a woodstove. Hoping everyone out there is safe.

The only new offer Twitter seems to be showing today is Marshall making a bid for Dartmouth senior offensive lineman Michael Flores. The Thundering Herd joins Miami (Ohio), UMass, Morehead State, Butler and University of San Diego in making him an offer. Flores also Tweeted preferred walk-on offers at Vanderbilt and Colorado.

You are going to skip down and scan the list below, but before you do, keep this in mind. As ridiculous as the national recruiting service rankings are when classes are complete, they are absurd at this juncture. Princeton's ranking is based on 12 recruits 247Sports has identified. The service has just two recruits identified for Dartmouth, which has 10 in its early decision class and at least one more that I've come across. Even at the end of the recruiting cycle 247Sports usually has woefully incomplete lists for most of the Ivies and compares them. Caveat emptor.

EXTRA POINT
Somewhere in our house there is an AC-to-DC charging gizmo for our small Jackery power station. Basically, the Jackery is a shoebox-sized battery that will allow us to plug in a floor lamp, keep a laptop going, or charge a phone numerous times when the power is out. Unfortunately, while I know full well the AC-to-DC charger has not left the house, I can't find it. That being the case, I made sure to charge the battery recently using a solar panel so it's ready to go later today if/when we need it.

I've also charged two lanterns, have several headlamps ready and AA batteries nearby. I even filled the bathtub with water because, and you city folks may not know this, when the power goes out a well pump stops working. And when that happens you get one flush in each bathroom until you refill the tank by hand. TMI, I know, but there you have it. Fingers crossed we don't need any of this stuff. Talk to you tomorrow . . . hopefully. Stay safe.
